010 | Interactive Equipment Log Book

Introduction

Whether you run a high school science lab or a tech company with an instrument used by several people and need a simple log book to record important parameters and comments to aid in the equipment's maintenance and repair, this interactive log book is a Word document designed to quickly get a user to the last row of the log book. There's no more need to maintain illegible hand-written log-books or replace that empty pen taped a dozen layers around a severely twisted string bolted down mercilessly to the table with $10 of hardware.

Hand-written log books are a messy way to maintain a professional and effective equipment record. Creating a digital log book can be hectic, if not daunting, for managers or educators who are not word processing experts.

Features:

  • A recognizable icon on the top of first page to be CTRL+CLICKED by the user upon opening the log.
  • The link immediately takes the user to the end of the log table where they can quickly fill in pertinent information.
  • Log column headers automatically appear atop every page as the table spans across many months and dozens of pages.
  • The header atop every page includes the name of the equipment and the revision date. To change these, just double-click on the header and make the necessary changes. When done, double click elsewhere in the main body of the document.
  • The footer at the bottom of every page includes the name of your institution, page number, room number, and building in which the equipment is kept.
  • The premise of the design is simple (less is more) meant to convey an efficient, effective, and professional experience for students, operators, or co-workers.
