When I began college in 1992 as a physics major at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL, one of our physics professors announced a kind of deal with the classroom: "We will treat you as professionals in your chosen field of study. We ask that you treat your coursework professionally." Having just arrived from a very rural high school in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, I was happy to accept this mindset and subsequently applied it to classes, labs, and recitation sessions I taught over the years. In that time the occasional student has approached me to explain that they loved the idea and felt they could "finally contribute without being harassed" in a classroom setting and that "it levels the playing field for everyone". Here you will find resources related to my professional record and development as well as for your own professional development. To begin exploring some of these resources, look to the menu above.
