that day in Buffalo
I lost my mind
glanced over my shoulder
as the one I loved
turned that second corner
a final goodbye
a hello to a painful future
tried to hold back the tears
wetting my eyeballs bitterly
an overwhelming fate,
cards dealt and played
caused me to collapse there
in front of the bus station
though I proceeded
my life was gone
the final act
was for a bus
to transport my empty corpse
back to a place
a home away from home
